Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Bangor, ME – An in-state rematch ended in a doubleheader split this afternoon, as the University of Maine at Presque Isle Owls took on the Husson University Eagles.  Game one went to the Eagles with a 2-0 win, while the Owls took game two in a six-point comeback, winning 7-6 in the eight innings.

Jen Jones put on a defensive show in the game one.  The Eagles pitcher ended the seven inning game with seven strikeouts and only allowing five hits.  The only two runs of the game came off a double from Tamara Aunchman in the second and a Morgan Coleman groundout brought Olivia Smith home, in the fourth.

Sara Packard (St. Albans, ME) had a solid performance in her loss on the mound for the Owls, allowing only six hit and two runs in her six innings pitched.

Game two belonged to the Eagles early, as they took a six to nothing lead through three innings.  Runs started flowing in the second, A triple by Kylie Kennedy brought two runs in, and Madelyn Fowler and Bri Brochu followed with a single a piece, each bringing in a run.  Two more runs came in the third for the Eagles, behind a double by Kendra Wilson, giving them a 6-0 lead.

The Owls defense picked up in the remainder of the game to allow them to rally for a comeback.  Packard struck out, but was able to advance to first by a passed ball, allowing Jordi Legassie (Presque Isle, ME) to score from third to end the Owls drought.

With two outs in the seventh, and down five, Marissa Reagle (Seattle, WA) tripled, Anaiz Diaz (Tampa, FL) was walked, and Emily Page (Lincoln, ME) brought them both home off a double.  Legassie added a single to bring two more runs in. A smart call by coach Sara Shaw, giving Legassie the okay to steal second, allowing Roni Shaw (Payette, ID) steal home to tie the game at six!

In the eighth, after starting on second Packard was able to advance to third on a passed ball.  Brianna Losee (Pittsfield, ME) reached first on a fielder's choice allowing Packard to score and give the Owls the lead.  On the bottom half of the eighth, Packard struck out two of the three batters, the other lining out to her, ended the game, giving her the win on the mound.

Owls continue their in-state play with a doubleheader this Friday against Southern Maine Community College. Games are at 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM.
