Owls Lose to Falcons with Late Game Goal

BOSTON, MA – The UMPI Owls men's Soccer team competed in a non-conference match vs Fisher College down in Boston, MA. The Owls would fall to the Falcons 2-1, with a late game goal from the Falcons. This brings the Owls to a 2-5-2 record on the year as the Falcons advance to 2-7-1.

The teams played even in the first half, with nine shots by the Falcons to the Owls seven, five of those shots being on goal for UMPI, four for Fisher. Diego Vega would score the first goal of the day in the 36th minute, his fourth goal of the year. Matthew Bayonne earned the assist. The Falcons would then answer in the 41st minute, just before half off a penalty kick. It was in the second half that the Falcons had the edge, eventually scoring the winning goal in the 73rd minute of that game.

Bayonne led the attack for UMPI with five shots, three of which were on goal. Xavier McAtee was in goal for the Owls, finishing the game with 12 saves.

The Owls will head back up north for the week before heading to upstate New York to compete in NAC Cross Divisional opponents SUNY Canton and Northern Vermont University-Johnson.
