Owls Advance to NAC East Championship Game

FARMINGTON, ME- Owls win NAC East Semi Finals vs Husson Eagles, beating the Eagles 97-87. After finishing the regular season in 3rd seed, the Owls faced off against the 2nd seed Husson Eagles in the first playoff match up.

The Owls started off the first half with a slow start, but quickly found their rhythm and led by as many as 14 points with seven minutes left to go in the half. Although the Eagles managed to go on a run and bring it down to a one point trail, the Owls ended the first half shooting 47% from the field, and 50% from the line. They also led with 20 rebounds and 8 assists.

As the Eagles were looking to stay in the game in the second half, Owls did a great job of keeping them out of reach, having an answer for everything they had. By staying patient, consistent, and determined to win, the Owls kept a lead for the entire game and ended with a 10 point win. In the game, the Owls shot 55.4% from the field and 72.4% from the line, with 15 assists and 38 rebounds to complete an exceptional performance.

Griffin Guerrette stayed hot with a game high of 39 points shooting an impressive 67% from the field and an impressive 10-11 from the line. Dany Harris finished with 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Gilbert Jean Mendez had 15 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

After this semifinal win by the UMPI Owls, they face off the first seed in the North Atlantic Conference East Division, Farmington at 2:00 on Saturday in the Dearborn gym for the rights to claim the NAC East Championship title.
