FARMINGTON, ME
The University of Maine at Presque Isle Women's Soccer team travelled to Farmington, Maine for their second meeting of the year with the Beavers, having tied 1-1 at home last month. This would be the Owls second-to-last matchup of the season having been mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The Beavers slammed the door on the Owls' possibility of playing spoiler with a dominant first half.
The Beavers scored five times in the first frame with the first two goals separated by mere seconds in the 13th minute. By the 23rd minute, UMF was up 4-0, and they'd also tack on one via a Penalty Kick with under six seconds left in the half.
The Beavers scored one in the second half and coasted to the 6-0 victory. For the Owls, it was not as if they had no opportunities. UMPI got 10 shots off as a team to UMF's 24, while putting 5 on frame. The tandem of Madelynn Morrow and Alexis Ireland combined for six shots, Morrow had two on goal. Ella McCarthy also had three shots herself and two on frame. Camryn Ala added the tenth shot for UMPI.
With this loss the Owls fall to 3-8-2 on the year. They will travel to face Thomas College on Saturday at 3:30 for their final game of the season.
