Owls Women’s Soccer Wrap Up 2025 Campaign

PRESQUE ISLE, ME

The UMPI Women's Soccer team finished out their 2025 season when they hosted Thomas College on senior day, Saturday afternoon. The Owls offense rebounded thanks to a couple adjustments, but they couldn't avoid a second half surge of goals by Thomas as the Terriers took a 6-2 victory.

How it Happened:

UMPI and Thomas started out fairly 50/50 possession wise, but Thomas broke through in the 13th minute to draw first blood. Before UMPI could adjust to playing from behind the Terriers struck again, going up 2-0 in the 16th minute. The Owls didn't roll over however, as they'd capitalize on a counterattack. Camryn Ala and Kamryn Clavette broke free on the attack, as Clavette found Ala who got a quick one-timer to score for UMPI and cut the lead in half. Ala's goal on senior day was her fourth of the season, and Clavette's first assist of the year as the tandem proved to work well together.

Though not even halfway through the first half with three goals already on the board, neither team scored the rest of the half. Thomas knocked on the door a couple times but the Owls were able to defend and keep them out of the net. Unfortunately, that would not be true early on in the second half. The terriers scored three times in the first eight minutes, and then again in the 59th minute to turn the game upside down. A 6-1 Terrier lead all but solidified the Terriers' spot in the postseason. UMPI never gave up despite what the scoreboard said, as they responded less than two minutes after giving up the sixth goal. Kamryn Clavette netted her seventh goal of the season for UMPI, making it a 6-2 game and giving the Owls a multi-goal game.

That was it for the scoring action as the final 30 minutes of the game wound down without incident.

Top Performers:

Ala and Clavette were the aforementioned goal scorers, with Clavette adding an assist on the first goal as well. UMPI put up seven shots throughout the day and all but one of them was on target. Clavette had three on goal, with Ala having two. Madison Bridges had the other shot on goal for the team's total of six.

UMPI finishes out the year and will graduate two seniors. Defender Olivia Gray who barely left the field all season for UMPI, playing all 90 minutes on ten different occasions. And Camryn Ala, who wraps up a great four year career and an awesome senior campaign in which she scored four goals as primarily a midfielder, and provided great leadership to a very young UMPI squad.
