Owls Track and Field Teams Prepare for NAC Championships

The University of Maine at Presque Isle Track and Field teams competed in two matches after their opening weekend slate. On April 11th, they competed in the Monk Invitational, hosted by St. Joseph's College, followed by the Pine Tree Classic, hosted by Colby College on April 18th and 19th.

Monk Invitational – April 11th

Men:

Jovain Barrett and Isaac Doore finished 13th and 14th respectively in the 100 meters, with Barrett registering a time of 11.95, and Doore 12.1 seconds.

Westley Dyer finished 9th in the 1500 meters, with a time of 4:46.74.

Dyer also competed in the high jump, earning 7th place with a 1.70m mark.

Jovain Barrett showcased versatility like a lot of other Owls , finishing T-6th in long jump, with a six-meter mark.

Isaac Doore, landed 7th in triple jump, leaping 11.6 meters.

In throwing events, Xavier McAtee led the way, finishing 9th in shot put, and 8th in discuss with a throw of 35.10 meters.

Women:

Evelyn Elijah headlined the Owls performance with her 8th place finish in discuss, with a throw of 29.90m. She also finished 10th in Javelin, with a throw of 26.51 meters.

Lauren Cooley supported Elijah's efforts in the field events, finishing 24th in Javelin.

Taylor Marston competed in 100-meter hurdles, finishing 14th with a time of 21.11 seconds.

 

Pine Tree Classic – April 18th-19th.

Men:

Joey Doll highlighted the Men's meet for UMPI with a 7th place javelin finish. He registered a throw of 39.33 meters.

Hayden Bay supported Doll in the field events which included a 9th place finish in discuss with a 38.23m mark.

Isaac Doore finished 8th in triple jump, with a jump of 11.88 meters, improving on his mark from the previous meet. Doore also finished 9th in the 400 meters, with a time of 53.43 seconds.

Women:

Evelyn Elijah headlined the women's side again, finishing 11th in Javelin with a toss of 26.22 meters. Elijah landed 18th in shot put with a 9.03m mark, and 22nd in discuss with a 26.13m mark.

Rylie Kolkow registered a 26th place finish in shot put, her top throw coming in at 7.44 meters.

Lauren Cooley and Taylor Marston also competed in all three throwing events.

 

NAC Championships

Weather permitting, the North Atlantic Conference Track & Field Championships will be held on Friday April 27th, and Saturday, April 26th in Waterville, ME on the campus of Colby College, the championship will be hosted by Thomas College.
