For the third straight day, UMPI Baseball has announced another recruit. Ronnie Golmon, from Georgetown, Texas will join his former high school teammate, and fellow Texan, Hector Perez and become the latest Owl to join the roster.

Golmon graduated from East View High School and 2024 and took a gap year before committing to college for this upcoming 2025-26 year. On the field, he was a true utility—seeing experience at shortstop and the outfield. His athleticism allows him to play pretty much anywhere on the diamond. Golmon earned a number of awards throughout high school including a gold glove award in 2023 and 2024. All-District Team Honorable Mention in 2024 and more.

In Golmon's senior year of 2024, East View finished as BiDistrict Champions and Area finalists. In deciding to come to UMPI, Golmon will join his former teammate and good friend Hector Perez. Perez hit .315 this spring for the Owls and is an exciting part of UMPI's future going forward. "It's gonna be like old times when we were young," Perez said.

Golmon is more than excited to get going. "It's a privilege to be a part of UMPI and be able to continue living my dream!" Golmon said. As for his coach, Tim Burns is excited for what another East View player can do for the program.

"I'm very excited to have Ronnie join the Owls family. He will share a similar passion and fire for the game, and for getting better every day as his former and now rekindled teammate Hector does. He'll have an immediate impact as his ability to get on base and speed will fit perfectly into our game of manufacturing runs," Burns said.

Golmon has been accepted into the Business Administration program and will begin his studies this fall. UMPI Welcomes him as the newest member of the Owls athletics family.
