FARMINGTON, ME
The UMPI Men's and Women's Cross Country squads took part in the Alumni Invitational on Saturday morning down in rainy Farmington, Maine. UMPI and UMF were the only two college teams, while 17 UMF alumni participated in the event.

Men:
The Owls were led by last year's number one, Westley Dyer, with a 5K time of 19:30.9 for mile split of 6:16. Second year runner Isiah Mitchell was just seconds behind his teammate, finishing at 19:33.9. Dyer and Isiah Mitchell finished 8th and 9th place in the meet. First-year runner Aspen Mitchell was the next Owl to cross the line, finishing in 12th place for a time of 20 minutes and 18 seconds and an average mile of 6:32. As a team, UMPI finished with a total time of 1:55:27, averaging 23:05 in the 8K, behind Farmington's first place finish of 1:25:01.
Women:
UMPI's Women squad was led by Milaya Buchanan, with a total time of 25:48.7 in the Women's 5K. Buchanan averaged an 8:18.4 mile pace. Lindy Hyndman finished at 28:27.4, good for 17th place while Maubi Mateo and Brooke Gardner finished 19th and 20th respectively.
As a team, the Owls finished 2:25:51 behind Farmington who had a total time of 1:49:26.
Next Up: UMPI will have a break next weekend, before taking off for the State of Maine Intercollegiate Championship on September 20th, hosted by Bowdoin College.
