UMPI Baseball Ready For Full Conference Slate in 2026

PRESQUE ISLE, ME

UMPI Baseball Head Coach Tim Burns enters his second year at the helm after being promoted from interim to full-time in the summer. Coach Burns' squad has a full slate of 35 games scheduled this year, with a record breaking 24 league games on tap. The North Atlantic Conference has realigned by eliminating the east and west divisions, with the playoff format being the top four out of seven teams qualifying for the tournament.

The Owls will play nine games in Central Florida at the RussMatt Invitational, returning to the prestigious tournament after a one-year hiatus. The Owls competed there from 2022-2024.

They will get right to action with four conference games against Lesley University at the RussMatt to open up the season beginning Sunday, March 15th. The Owls will play back-to-back doubleheaders with the Lynx before getting an off day and finishing out their spring trip with Keuka College, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA), and Bates College.

They won't have much reprieve as the next weekend they head to Lewiston to play a neutral site NAC series with Thomas College, and then SUNY Cobleskill the weekend after that, also a neutral site series.

They finally play their first true away games, at University of Maine at Farmington on April 11th and 12th, then University of Maine at Augusta the following weekend.

The Owls will finish their regular season schedule with 10 home games consisting of VTSU-Lyndon, University of Maine at Fort Kent, and Husson University. If mother nature cooperates—10 games would be a program record for home contests held in a season.

The Owls showed a lot of promise last year, going 7-20 which was the most wins as a program since 2016. They will look to improve and break that mark again and continue to improve the program.
