Farmington, ME – The UMPI Owls women's basketball team bounce back with an overtime won over UMF. The Owls knock off the University of Maine at Farmington in their second North Atlantic Conference Divisional game of the weekend, 63-61 in a thrilling overtime win.

With some early back and forth play, the Owls found themselves down by one after the first ten minutes. Jelecia Ma'Gee-Hodges (Killeen, TX) helped the Owls early with her eight points in the first. A similar second quarter brought the Owls to halftime as they found themselves down two points. It was in the third quarter that UMPI gained the lead. Up just three points going into the fourth quarter the Owls battled to hold the lead. The Owls held the lead for the majority of the final quarter before the Beavers found themselves down four with a minute to go. A couple of free throws followed by a last minute layup tied the game to bring it to overtime.

With five more intense minutes of basketball, the Owls found themselves down two points when a late game three by Emily Wheaton (Presque Isle, ME) gave them the lead, up one with under a minute left in overtime. The Owls sent a UMF player to the line where she tied the game at 61 each. Wheaton yet again would give the Owls the lead, this time off two made free throws as the Owls were able to put it away with a stop in the final seconds.

Wheaton led the Owls with 19 points off 7-11 shooting and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Paige Espling (Cariboou, ME)  finished the game with 14 points, while the Owls finished the game with nine players scoring, in the full team effort win over UMF.
