Presque Isle, ME – The UMPI women's basketball team took on Northern Vermont University – Lyndon in their final North Atlantic Conference double header. UMPI's consistent play earned them an 80-58 win over the Hornets. The Owls earn their third straight win to bring them to 11-9 in the season and 6-6 in the NAC.

Some high scoring early as the Owls found themselves ahead by three after the first ten minutes, 20-17. The Owls were led by Alexis Ireland (Howland, ME) with an early eight points. Another 20-point quarter in the second, boosted the Owls lead to eight going into the half. A big third quarter helped the Owls put this game away as they held the Hornets to 11 points off 38.5% shooting in the third while UMPI shot 50% from the field and 66% from the three, scoring 23 points in the quarter. This third quarter run was led by Paige Espling's (Caribou, ME) 10-point, six rebound quarter off 5-7 shooting.

The Owls finished the game with four players in double figures and three with 15 points. Ireland led the team with 16 rebounds, including eight offensive to go along with her 15 points on 50% shooting. Espling scored 15 points off 7-12 shooting to go along with her 11 rebounds and five blocks. Emily Wheaton (Presque Isle, ME) also finished with 15 points on the night, shooting 2-3 from the three.

The Owls will host their final regular season game with another match vs NVU-Lyndon at 3:00PM.
