Box Score Presque Isle, ME – The Owls women's basketball team handles the Terriers of Thomas College in their second game of the double header weekend. The Owls big first quarter put the Owls out ahead early as they held on for the 71-41 victory.
The Owls were on fire early as they finished the first quarter shooting 57% from the field and 2-3 from behind the arc. Giving them a 21-10 lead early. UMPI's offense slowed down in the second quarter, but it was their defense that kept them in control, only allowing nine points in the quarter and 19 in the half. The second half was more of the same for the Owls as they continued to get stops on defense and push the score up on the offensive end, finishing the game with 15 steal, causing 21 turnover and shot 49% from the field.
Emily Wheaton (Presque Isle, ME) led the Owls in scoring with 15 points off 5-11 shooting. Although, it was Alexis Ireland filling up the stat sheet with 14 points on 5-6 shooting and another big rebounding night with 13 boards. Rebecca Davila (El Paso, TX) came off the bench with 11 points off 407 shooting and five steals.
The Owls will have continue their home stretch as they host NAC opponent NVU-Lyndon next weekend.
