Owls Earn First NAC Win of the Year in Split with Terriers

WATERVILLE, MAINE – The Owls earn first North Atlantic Conference win of the year in a 7-6 victory. The Owls split the doubleheader with the Terriers of Thomas College, this brings the Owls to a 1-3 NAC record after the weekend series.
 
Game 1: 7-6 Owls

Garrett Chadwick earned the win on the mound for the Owls, pitching the first six innings, allowing just five hits and four earned runs. Dakota Morrow earned the save on the mound, pitching the final inning and causing three flyouts to secure the win.

The Owls scoring began after they found themselves down two runs in the second. RBI singles from Ricky Goupille, Joey Lippo, and Chadwick gave the Owls the 3-2 lead. UMPI wasn't done there as captain Timothy Burns hit a two-RBI double to right center field, later scoring off a Terrier error to give UMPI the 6-2 lead in the second. Each team scored one more run in the third before the Terriers three runs in the sixth. Where the game was put away by the Owls defense.
 
Game 2: 3-16 Terriers

The Terriers came out of the gate hot with nine runs in the first two innings coming off nine total hits. The Owls brought in two runs in the third to shorten the lead. The Terriers scored the remainder of their runs in the sixth where they scored seven runs on five hits. The Owls finished the game with seven hits, led by Payton Jones two for three day.
 

The Owls will continue NAC play as they play UMF in a mid-week doubleheader.
