MALDEN, MA
The UMPI Women's Soccer team took on Fisher College for the second Sunday in a row, but this time they hit the road to take on the Falcons, unlike last time, Fisher found their offense early on, using a first-half lead to lift them to a 3-1 victory.
How it Happened:
Both teams took a few minutes to feel each other before Fisher fired the first shot in the 8th minute. The Falcons kept the pressure up until they broke through in the 22nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Falcons tacked on another in the 37th minute to take a comfortable half time lead.
In the second half, Fisher stayed hot, scoring their third of the game in the 55th minute to put the potential nail in the coffin with still a lot of game to play. UMPI didn't go away quietly however, as they were able to break through in the 69th minute when Kamryn Clavette scored off a free kick from Michaela Carney. Clavette snuck behind the defense after the ball skipped off the head of a Fisher defender. Clavette got their before Fisher's keeper and was able to get a quick touch and sneak it past her to put the Owls on the board. It was Clavette's second goal of the season and second in as many games.
The Owls fought for opportunities from there with 20 minutes to go but couldn't find any, as Fisher was able to take advantage of their first half lead and coast to a 3-1 victory.
Top Performers:
As mentioned, Kamryn Clavette cashed in for the Owls, on her only shot of the day. Abby Doughty put up three shots for UMPI, one of which was on target. Natalie Miranda added to her already high season total with ten more saves as she played all 90 minutes for UMPI.
