Milaya Buchanan highlighted the Owl Harriers as they competed in their final race before the NAC Championship coming up in two weeks. Buchanan competed as an individual on the women's side while the UMPI Men's team placed fourth with a team score of 100.
Men:
Seven runners raced for UMPI in the Thomas Invite, with Isiah Mitchell leading the charge and finishing in 17th place overall. Mitchell posted a season best 8K time of 32:27.7, or an average mile pace of 6:31.8 Not far behind Isiah Mitchell, was Aspen Mitchell who finished in 19th place with a time just 11 seconds behind Isiah. Aspen averaged 6:34 for his mile split. Kieran Everett and Potter Raymond finished within three seconds of each other in 22nd and 23rd for the Owls as they helped UMPI beat out CMCC for fourth place overall. UMPI finished with a team score of 100, trailing Husson at 92, but leading CMCC with 113.
Women:
Milaya Buchanan put on her best performance of the season in the Women's 6K race. She finished in 9th place and had a personal record time of 30 minutes even. Her mile pace clocked in at 8:02. Over the season in two other 6Ks, Buchanan has improved by over 30 seconds to her next best time, and by over three whole minutes from her best time last year.
Next Up: The Men's and Women's teams will get ready and compete at the North Atlantic Conference Championship, coming up in two weeks' time. The Owls have already seen the course that it will be held on as two weeks ago they ran it during the NAC Preview. Husson will host the event in Bangor, Maine on November 1st. Â
